Minneapolis, MN — In what is believed to be a first for commercial aviation, a Delta Air Lines flight made a 482-kilometer detour to save a sick dog, highlighting an extraordinary act of compassion at 30,000 feet. Delta Flight 694, en route from Detroit to Los Angeles on Monday, was diverted to Minneapolis after a dog on board suffered a medical emergency.
About an hour into the five-hour journey, flight attendants were alerted to a medical issue—not with a human passenger, but with a pooch traveling in the cabin. “This is reportedly the first time an airline has rerouted a flight specifically for a pet’s health,” a Delta representative noted.
