Kirk weighed in on viral concert moment days before his assassination

Just days before his death, conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk shared his unfiltered opinion on the now-infamous Coldplay kiss cam scandal. The viral moment involved Astronomer CEO Andy Byron being caught on camera with his company’s chief people officer, Kristin Cabot, during a July Coldplay concert in Boston.

Kirk, who was shot and killed on September 10 while speaking at a Utah campus event, addressed the clip in an Instagram video that has resurfaced since his assassination.

‘I’m glad they are being shamed’

In the video, Kirk did not hold back.

“Okay, everybody, you’ve probably seen this viral video of Andy Byron, the CEO of Astronomer, having an affair with his HR chief, Kristin Cabot,” Kirk said. “First of all, I’m glad that they are being shamed. They deserve it. Adultery should not be trivialized, and adultery should not be made fun of.”

He went on to frame the moment as a moral lesson for his followers:

“Do you notice how their behavior changed as soon as they turned on the camera? They knew what they were doing was wrong. How many of you in your life are doing something wrong, something secret, something private, that as soon as you were put on camera, your behavior would change? That’s the difference between a Christian and a non-Christian.”

‘God is always watching’

Kirk urged viewers to live with the mindset that someone is always watching—if not the public, then God.

“We should always act and behave as if somebody is watching because God is always watching,” he said.

Adding a characteristic jab, Kirk quipped:
“By the way, I would rather be caught at a WNBA game than going to a Coldplay concert with my wife. But if my wife and I were to show up on a Jumbotron at Coldplay, it’d be fun.”

He ended by encouraging followers to continue ridiculing Byron and Cabot:
“Make sure you live a life that, because God is always watching. And by the way, please continue to mock Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot.”

Context: Kirk’s final days

Kirk’s comments circulated widely after the Coldplay clip went viral, but his death days later has since cast them in a different light.

On September 10, 2025, Kirk, 31, was shot dead by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson during a student Q&A event at Utah Valley University (UVU). Authorities have charged Robinson with aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm, and obstruction of justice. He remains in custody without bail.

Kirk’s killing shocked political circles in the U.S., prompting statements from political leaders, family members, and supporters.
