According to the latest World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) report, these are the top 10 nations in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2025.

10. China – 56.6

China secured 10th place with a score of 56.6. Its strong performance in patent filings, tech clusters, and manufacturing-driven innovation continues to keep it in the global top tier.

9. Denmark – 56.9

Denmark achieved the 9th spot with 56.9 points. Ranking second overall among institutions, first in ICT access, and fifth in online creativity, the country’s digital strength and governance model have enhanced its innovation capacity.

8. Netherlands – 57.3

The Netherlands ranked 8th with a score of 57.3, thanks to its robust and balanced innovation ecosystem. It also stood out for high performance in creative outputs and its globally competitive innovation clusters.

7. Finland – 57.7

Finland scored 57.7 to claim the 7th spot. Known for its strong infrastructure and effective innovation-to-output conversion, Finland continues to shine despite global slowdowns in R&D growth and venture capital investment.

6. United Kingdom – 59.1

The UK secured 6th place with 59.1 points, driven by its world-class universities, startup environment, and strong digital economy.

5. Singapore – 59.9

Singapore retained its position as Asia’s innovation hub, scoring 59.9. Heavy investments in R&D, advanced infrastructure, and digital transformation initiatives helped it secure 5th place.

4. South Korea – 60.7

South Korea ranked 4th with 60.7 points. A global leader in semiconductors, electronics, and patent activity, it continues to strengthen its reputation as a high-tech powerhouse.

3. United States – 61.7

The US took the 3rd spot with 61.7 points. Its leadership in AI, biotech, and advanced manufacturing, coupled with strong innovation ecosystems powered by world-class universities and tech giants, reinforce its global standing.

2. Sweden – 62.6

Sweden scored 62.6 to secure the 2nd position. Its high-ranking education system, thriving startup culture, and focus on green technologies keep it among the most innovative countries worldwide.

1. Switzerland – 66.1

Switzerland retained its crown at the top of the Global Innovation Index 2025 with 66.1 points. Its success is attributed to high R&D spending, robust intellectual property protection, and globally competitive industries.
