Israel confirms prisoner release in exchange for hostages

Jerusalem – Israel’s prison service announced on Saturday the release of 200 Palestinian prisoners as part of a ceasefire agreement with Hamas. The deal, brokered amid ongoing tensions in the region, had earlier seen Hamas release four Israeli hostages.

“After the conclusion of the necessary activities in the prisons and the approval of political authorities, all the terrorists were released from the Ofer and Ktziot prisons,” the Israeli prison service confirmed in a statement.
