A fintech CEO’s casual post about spotting Senator Elizabeth Warren and New York mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani deep in conversation has gone viral, not just for the unexpected sighting, but for the wave of jokes it inspired online.
Kushal Byatnal, co-founder and CEO of the New York–based fintech company Extend, took to social platform X to share a quirky discovery from his office window. Byatnal wrote that Extend’s office sits “directly across the street” from Mamdani’s campaign headquarters, and that during a routine team stand-up meeting, his staff noticed something unusual.
“Our office is directly across the street from Mamdani’s campaign HQ. We looked over after standup today, and surprise, Elizabeth Warren and Mamdani in a deep debate,” Byatnal posted.

Along with his caption, he shared a photo taken through the office window, showing Senator Warren and Mamdani in what appeared to be an intense discussion inside the campaign headquarters.
Byatnal added a tongue-in-cheek line that his team was “tempted to put up a sign petitioning for Extend to take over doc processing for NYC,” referencing the company’s work in digital documentation software.
“Two of America’s favorite Indians in the same room, nice,” one user wrote.

Mamdani defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa in what analysts called one of the city’s most ideologically diverse elections in decades.
He is set to officially assume office at 12:01 a.m. on January 1, 2026, during the city’s traditional midnight mayoral transition. The inauguration ceremony will feature remarks from outgoing Mayor Eric Adams, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and several congressional leaders.
Senator Elizabeth Warren’s meeting with Mamdani has fueled speculation about her continued influence within the progressive wing of the Democratic Party.
