Novo Nordisk Slashes Wegovy Price as CEO Vows to Go ‘All In’ on Weight-Loss Pill

Novo Nordisk has slashed the cash price of its blockbuster weight-loss drug Wegovy to $349 per month, accelerating a pricing deal it had originally planned to implement in January under a previously announced agreement with the Trump administration. The move marks a major shift in the escalating competition among companies racing to dominate the fast-growing obesity-drug market.

The Danish drugmaker also lowered the price for most doses of its diabetes drug Ozempic to the same level, with the exception of the highest 2 mg dose, which remains at $499.

The announcement comes during a pivotal moment for the company, which is undertaking deep restructuring and facing increasing pressure from rival Eli Lilly and from the proliferation of cheaper semaglutide copies available through pharmacies and telehealth platforms.

As part of its broader affordability strategy, Novo Nordisk rolled out a discounted introductory offer of $199 per month for first-time cash-paying users of the two lowest doses of Wegovy and Ozempic.
The deal is valid for two months for patients who begin treatment anytime between now and March 31, 2026.

Patients can access these offers through:

  • The Ozempic and Wegovy official websites
  • Novo Nordisk’s consumer portal NovoCare
  • Partner platforms including GoodRx, WeightWatchers, and Costco

The initiative aims to make authentic semaglutide more accessible to individuals who are increasingly turning to compounded or non-FDA-approved versions due to cost and supply issues.
