January 28, 2026: Ajit Pawar, the long-serving Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and leader of the Nationalist Congress Party, was killed when the chartered Learjet 45 aircraft he was travelling in crash-landed while attempting to land at Baramati Airport in the Pune district. All five people on board, including two pilots, Pawar’s personal security officer, and an attendant, died in the blaze.
