Retired Air Force general vanishes from Albuquerque home

A retired US Air Force major general, believed to know highly classified aerospace and UFO-related programs, has been reported missing, triggering a search effort involving federal and local authorities.

William Neil McCasland disappeared on February 28 after leaving his residence in Albuquerque. According to reports, McCasland walked out of his home without his cellphone and has not contacted family or authorities since.

Journalist warns disappearance could pose national security risk

Investigative reporter Ross Coulthart discussed the disappearance during an episode of his “Reality Check” podcast, warning that the situation could have serious national security implications.

“The fact that Gen. Neil McCasland has disappeared off the face of the earth is a grave national security crisis for the United States of America. This is a man with some of the most sensitive secrets of the United States in his head,” Coulthart said.

According to Coulthart, McCasland’s previous roles placed him at the center of advanced military research programs that remain highly classified.

Role at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base fuels speculation

During his career, McCasland was reportedly assigned to research and development programs connected to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, a major hub for US Air Force technology development.

Massive UFO archive briefly wiped before restoration

Adding another layer of intrigue, a large public archive of declassified government files related to UFO research disappeared online shortly before being restored.

The archive, known as The Black Vault, contains millions of documents obtained through US Freedom of Information Act requests.

Its founder, John Greenewald Jr., revealed that approximately 3.8 million files vanished from the database on February 20.

The documents included decades of reports related to alleged UFO sightings, military observations, and witness testimony.

Greenewald said the hosting provider later informed him the files had been deleted rather than corrupted. Because he had maintained backup copies, the entire archive was restored soon afterwards.

The incident occurred only weeks before the anticipated release of additional government documents about UFO investigations.

Authorities have not suggested any connection between McCasland’s disappearance, the planned disclosure of UFO-related records, or the temporary removal of the Black Vault archive.
