A wildly popular MAGA influencer who captivated millions on Instagram with her staunch conservative views, gun-toting photos, and bikini-clad ice-fishing trips has been unmasked. The “patriotic” American woman, known online as Emily Hart, does not exist.
Instead, she was the artificial intelligence creation of “Sam,” a 22-year-old orthopedic surgeon-in-training located in India.
Here is how a medical student halfway across the world utilized AI tools to build a massive following, monetize a fake persona, and fund his medical education.

The scheme began as a way for Sam to scrounge up money for his medical schooling and a future move to the United States. To find the most profitable demographic, he consulted Google’s Gemini AI for market research.
According to Sam, the AI advised him that the conservative audience—particularly men in the US—often boasts a higher disposable income and demonstrates stronger brand loyalty.
Armed with this data, Emily Hart was born. Crafted to perfectly fit the MAGA niche, Hart’s profile presented her as a pro-Christian, pro-Second Amendment registered nurse.

“In India, even in professional jobs, you can’t make this amount of money,” Sam said. “I haven’t seen any easier way to make money online. I was basically doing nothing, and it was just flooded with money.”
Why It Worked: The “Attention-Grabbing” Factor
Valerie Wirtschafter, a fellow at the Brookings Institute studying emerging tech and democracy, noted that AI has made fake profiles incredibly believable. She added that young, staunchly MAGA women are inherently “attention-grabbing” on social media because the majority of 18- to 29-year-old women in America skew heavily Democratic.
Interestingly, Sam attempted to replicate his success with a liberal counterpart to Emily Hart, but the project failed to gain traction.

“Democrats know that it’s AI slop, so they don’t engage as much,” Sam claimed. “The MAGA crowd is made up of dumb people – like, super dumb people. And they fall for it.”
The Inevitable Ban
The lucrative run eventually hit a wall. In February, Instagram removed the Emily Hart profile for “fraudulent” activity, enforcing its platform rules that require creators to clearly disclose when content is AI-generated. A related Facebook page was also recently taken down after the scheme was exposed.
Despite the deception, the 22-year-old medical student remains unbothered by the ethical implications of his lucrative social media experiment.
“I don’t feel like I was scamming people,” he concluded.
