Judd Stone steps down after bizarre and graphic claims surface in internal AG office letter

Austin, Texas, June 1, 2025 — Judd Stone, the former solicitor general of Texas, has resigned amid serious and deeply disturbing allegations of sexual harassment, including a graphic and violent “asteroid fantasy” he shared with coworkers during a government lunch.

The allegations were laid out in a detailed five-page letter written by Texas First Assistant Attorney General Brent Webster. The letter accuses Stone of not only fostering a hostile work environment through inappropriate and misogynistic remarks but also of disturbing behavior that left several employees shaken and emotionally distressed.

Asteroid fantasy crosses the line from crude to disturbing

According to Webster’s letter, the most jarring incident took place in 2023 during a lunch attended by multiple government employees. Stone allegedly described a grotesque sexual fantasy involving a “cylindrical asteroid” used to assault Webster, in the presence of Webster’s wife and children.

The commentary, reportedly delivered as a “joke,” drew immediate concern. One female employee was so upset by the remark that she excused herself from the table. When she returned, other attendees mocked her, saying she “couldn’t handle people talking about dicks,” according to the letter.

The same employee later recounted the incident to Webster in tears, saying she had been sexually harassed by Stone on other occasions and was worried about his behavior toward women in the office.

Resignation follows internal fallout

Stone had been on a leave of absence at the time, defending Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his impeachment trial. When confronted about the allegations, he reportedly admitted to all of them, including the bizarre asteroid incident. He was then offered the option to resign or be terminated. He chose to step down.

Webster’s letter, which has not been made public in full but was reviewed by 404 Media, outlines not just the sexual harassment claims but also details what he describes as a pattern of dishonesty and troubling behavior from Stone. The assistant AG expressed fear for the safety of his own family, raising further questions about the environment within the attorney general’s office.

Cultural rot or outlier?

The strange and violent nature of the “asteroid” fantasy has drawn comparisons to satirical or absurdist fiction, but experts say its use in a real-world workplace setting reflects a more dangerous trend. “This is not just about bad taste or crude humor,” said a legal ethics scholar who reviewed the case. “This crosses the line into intimidation and psychological harm.”

While it remains unclear how such conduct went unchecked for so long, Stone’s resignation marks a rare public reckoning within the upper ranks of Texas’s legal establishment. As the AG’s office begins what appears to be an internal reckoning, the focus has turned to supporting the staff affected and ensuring accountability going forward.

The Texas Attorney General’s office has yet to issue a formal comment on Stone’s resignation.
