Estranged Wife of Texas AG Ken Paxton Cites Biblical Grounds, Publicly and Privately Alleges Infidelity

COLLIN COUNTY, TEXAS — Texas State Senator Angela Paxton has filed for divorce from her husband, Attorney General Ken Paxton, citing adultery and a breakdown of the marriage, court documents confirm. The high-profile couple, married since 1986, has been living apart for over a year.

Publicly, Angela Paxton announced the separation on X, saying:

“In light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage.”

Court Filings Detail Allegations of Infidelity

The Collin County court documents filed earlier this week allege that the marriage is “insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities,” and point specifically to the Attorney General’s alleged unfaithfulness. The Paxtons share four children and five grandchildren.

Ken Paxton Responds: “Starting a New Chapter”

In a post on X, Ken Paxton acknowledged the split:

“After facing the pressures of countless political attacks and public scrutiny, Angela and I have decided to start a new chapter in our lives.”

He continued,

“I could not be any more proud or grateful for the incredible family that God has blessed us with… I ask for your prayers and privacy at this time.”

Affair First Emerged During Impeachment Proceedings

The extramarital affair referenced in the filings became public in 2023, during Paxton’s impeachment trial before the Texas Senate. At the time, the GOP-controlled Texas House of Representatives had voted 121-23 to impeach him on 16 articles, including bribery, abuse of office, and misuse of public resources.

One impeachment article accused Austin real estate developer Nate Paul of bribing Paxton by giving his alleged mistress, Laura Olson, a job at World Class Holdings in 2019. Olson, identified by the media, was linked to local Republican politics and previously worked for State Senator Donna Campbell.

Although Olson was subpoenaed for the trial, senators were informed she was “unavailable to testify.” Angela Paxton, due to a conflict of interest, was not permitted to vote in the impeachment trial. Ken Paxton was acquitted on all counts.

Divorce Fallout May Threaten Senate Ambitions

Ken Paxton, a polarizing conservative div, is preparing to challenge Senator John Cornyn in the 2026 GOP primary. Paxton has attacked Cornyn as a “RINO” over his criticism of Donald Trump, support for Ukraine, and backing gun safety reforms.

However, backlash over the divorce and alleged infidelity could complicate his Senate bid. The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) issued a scathing statement in support of Angela Paxton.

“What Ken Paxton has put his family through is truly repulsive and disgusting,” NRSC communications director Joanna Rodriguez wrote on X.
